This is an early example of Marian’s paintings on paper most likely done sometime between 1919-1922. I first saw this painting because it was featured in Marian Spore Bush: Life Afterlife, Works c. 1919–1945, which runs from July 9 through September 6, 2025. It’s very similar in style to Marian’s works that appeared in Slotins Folkart Spring Self-taught Art Masterpiece Sale on April 22-23, 2023, a lot of 20 very early mixed media paintings on paper and cardstock. The paintings varied in condition from “fair to great,” and their provenance came from Marian’s great-niece.
