Temple By the Sea was described by The New York Times as the “most arresting in the collection” during her exhibition at the Knoedler Galleries in February 1933, with “rich interblending blues”, “burning yellows” and a “red that turns purple where sky meets a purplish sea.” I believe this was from her “Temple Series” but I am not entirely sure if this was painted around 1922 or a later date.
