Destiny

This painting was displayed during her 1927 exhibition in Washington, D.C., and it immediately brings to mind her Temple series. I’ve brightened and cleaned up the old image as much as possible, but this is the best version I’ve been able to locate so far. Although the newspaper clipping identified the piece as “Destiny,” I strongly suspect it actually belongs to her Temple series. While many works in that series follow the “The Temple of…” naming pattern, it’s entirely possible that Marian didn’t title every piece in the same way, or that she occasionally changed the titles over time.
