Marian Spore Bush - Old Fashioned Flowers

Peonies was displayed at the January 15-24, 1934 exhibition at The Wildenstein Gallery in New York City and is listed in the show catalog. I do not have a picture of this painting or if it is out there, I am not aware of it. I suspect the painting I have dubbed Pink and Yellow Flowers could possibly be this one as the pink flowers look like some variety of peonies.

This painting was featured on a Christmas card Marian and her husband Irving T. Bush sent during their time together from 1930-1946. The Sindecuse Museum of Dentistry at the University of Michigan owns a copy of the greeting card that features a short story called “The  Story of the Christmas Tree”

Marian had started work on a children’s book with paintings and stories in 1922 and I believe this painting and the story in the greeting card were from that book project.
